Signing up

The signing up process is very standardised and simple. After clicking the Sign up button you will be redirected to the sign-up page. You have to provide a valid email account and select a password for the account. You will shortly receive an email with a confirmation link. Click on that link to activate the account.

When the account is activated, you are redirected to the login screen, where you have to use the account name and password you selected in the previous step.

Number two

Setting up your Organisation

This step is also a very simple one. First of all you need to name your Organisation and select the billing frequency. The billing frequency is applied to all purchases for your Organisation. You can change the billing frequency without problems up to the first payment which will take place when the 14 day trial ends. Just keep in mind that the billing is prorated so changing the billing frequency once the billing has started will take effect at the end of the current billing period.

In the Organisation pane you can select to invite members to your organisation and assign them different privileges. During the 14 day trial period there is a limit of only three members, including the owner. After that it is all up to you how many members you’d like to have in your organisation.

When this step is completed your 14 day trial period begins.

Number three

Configure monitoring

The next step is to set up the first domain to monitor.

Simply type the name of your domain in the text box, select the monitoring plans and your preference of monitoring locations and press the Save button and within a few seconds your first domain is monitored.

Repeat this step to configure additional domains to monitor. Note that during the 14 day trial period you are limited to 3 domains.

Monitoring plans

Monitoring plans are selected individually for each domain you’d like to monitor. Some of your domains may serve as placeholder domains while others contains important data for your organisation. The monitoring plans, the additional packages and resource record monitoring options aims to meet all levels of requirements an organisation has when monitoring a domain and its content.

The Basic monitoring plan is our entry-level monitoring option that runs five checks and provides basic Availability and Integrity statuses of your domain and its DNS servers.

The Basic monitoring plan can be expanded with up to four different packages: Availability, Integrity, Mail/Spam and DNSSEC. They are available for selection when the Basic monitoring plan is selected.

The Premium plan is the Basic plan with all four packages included at a reduced price.

Additional configuration

When the domains you wish to monitor are configured you can opt to monitor additional resource records unique for your domain. Simply press the plus (+) button in the lower right corner to activate the Resource Record configuration pane.

Add the name of the record you’d like to monitor (you’ll see the fully qualified domain name below the text box as you type) and select its record type and press the OK button. The record will be resolved and if it exists it will appear  on the Manage Domain page. The record will be monitored the next  time the monitoring checks are run.
