Monitoring Dashboard
Free [F]
Basic [B]
Premium [P]
The dashboard show the results of the latest monitoring run. The layout and depth of information vary between subscription types.
You can mix Free, Basic and Premium subscription types on the dashboard.
Sort Order: Select in which order you'd like the check result to be presented in this drop-down list. Available selections are be Severity, by Name (alphabetical order) and by Subscription type (ordered by Premium, Basic and Free).
Check Information: When this dropdown item is set to "On" a check description will be visible when moving the cursor over the name of each check. This option is only applicable for Premium subscribed domains.
Domain bar: Each domain bar in its collapsed state show the condensed information about each monitored domain. The domain bar consists of three or four parts:
The color of the circle icon show the highest aggregated severity from all monitored location for Availability and Integrity. Read more in our knowledge base articles about how the Availability and Integrity entities works, what the color coding means and how its severities are calculated!
The domain name that is monitored followed by a [P] for Premium, [B] for Basic or a [F] for Free to indicate the subscription type.
For Premium subscribed domains the number of days until the domain expires are shown in the domain bar (if the TLD is supported). Read more about the Domain expiration check here!
The arrow to the right indicate that the bar can be expanded to show additional data.
Free [F]
A domain set up in the Free subscription plan is monitored once every hour. The output from the monitoring runs are shown as compiled Availability and Integrity entities. More information about the Free subscription plan can be found here.
When the Domain bar is expanded it will show the following:
The Availability and Integrity bars indicate the status for each item with both color and percentage.
At the top right corner the time of the last check run is displayed. Time zone is the same as the browser.
At the bottom of the window the three selected locations are shown as bars with Availability and Integrity indicators on the left.
Basic [B]
The domains in a Basic subscription plan is monitored once every five minutes. The output from the monitoring runs are shown as compiled Availability and Integrity entities and if host name integrity checks are configured the output from these checks are displayed under the location fields (they also affect the Integrity entity). More information about the Basic plan can be found here.
When the Domain bar is expanded it will show the following:
The Availability and Integrity bars indicate the status for each item with both color and percentage.
At the top right corner the time of the last check run is displayed.
At the bottom of the window the three selected locations are shown as bars with Availability and Integrity indicators on the left. For a Basic subscription domain the location bars can be expanded if Host name integrity checks are configured.
Host name integrity checks
Simplified, a DNS server can be configured to respond with different resource records depending on your geographical location (source IP address). This is mostly used to direct traffic to a target (mostly web servers) closer to the client for network latency reasons.
This is why we both configure and display the result for Host name integrity checks for the specific location. The host name integrity check validate that the response from each monitoring location match the expected value or values.
If the expected IP response is a public (IPv4) or global (IPv6) address a reverse query will be run to find out if the PTR record corresponds to the name. These results are shown in the small matrix to the bottom right in the location field where the expected response (recorded and stored in our database at configuration time) is shown in the IP or CNAME field.
Premium [P]
The domains in a Premium subscription plan is monitored once every five minutes. The compiled output from the monitoring runs are shown in the expanded domain bar as Availability and Integrity entities.
Additional you can expand each location bar to reveal a matrix that include the result from each individual check on each name server.
If you have Host name integrity checks configured they are shown below each check matrix.
The location bars can be expanded.
Premium check matrix
In the Premium check matrix you get the detailed information from each check result. A klick in a cell will open an information box containing the following:
Time and date: When the check were run the last time.
Message: The warning, error och critical message returned from the check. This message is intended to bring some light on what the check has found and a brief explanation about the anomaly.
KB link: A link to the Knowledge Base article about this check containing information about possible errors as well as troubleshooting tips and tricks.
Toggle switch: Turns the specific check on and off.
